September Market Update — Portland Metro Area
The latest market stats are out, and it’s a similar story to last month—we still have very few homes to sell and this low inventory is keeping prices stable.
What's it mean for buyers?
Little changed last month. We still have very few homes on the market, and they continue to sell quickly. September saw lots of new listings. While we have to wait for next month's numbers to see how those homes did, it seems that competition is still fierce. Buyers are smart to keep looking and try to get into a home before prices head up again, which is expected to happen next year.
What's it mean for sellers?
With continued low inventory of homes for sale, it’s still a very attractive time to sell. Homes that are presented well and priced appropriately are selling quickly, and sellers can enter today’s market with more confidence than a few months ago. Prices could begin moving up next year, but it does not seem that rapid price growth is on the horizon, so there does not seem to be a reason to wait for the market to change.
