Library Renovations and Constructions
In 2020, voters approved a bond dedicating $387 million to modernize Multnomah County libraries and build a new one in East County.
7 of the county’s 19 libraries are closed for renovations, including downtown’s Central Library, which is getting an interior refresh.
Albina Library is undergoing big changes, with a large addition being built on NE Russell Street. When complete, the 30,000 square foot addition will make Albina Library one of the county’s largest.
The North Portland Library on Killingsworth is getting a 1,500 square foot addition that will house a Black Cultural Center.
And construction has begun on a new flagship library in East County, located in Gresham. The 95,000 square foot building will include an auditorium and public outdoor space.
