Portland International Airport Remodel
The Portland International Airport is in the final stages of a massive remodel. We’re several years in to the $2 billion project which will see much of the airport redesigned and rebuilt for the next generation of air travel. Traffic has increased steadily over the last few decades, and the airport renovation should set us up to accommodate more travelers in the years to come.
The star of the show is the 9 acre wooden ceiling, made from locally-sourced, sustainable wood from small growers and indigenous people. The check-in and security areas will be flooded with natural light from huge skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows, with large trees throughout the space. There be a mezzanine pre-security with a large new Loyal Legion where people can drink and dine while watching planes take off.
The food and shopping scene will be top-notch, with Portland favorites such as Oven and Shaker, Straightaway Cocktails, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Grassa, Blue Star Donuts, Sizzle Pie, Steven Smith Teamaker, Portland Gear, and more.
The main areas will open in August 2024, and construction should be complete on the entire renovation in 2025. We can’t wait to check it out!
