Development Spotlight : Pop Blocks
If you’ve been on Northeast Sandy Boulevard lately, you’ve likely noticed the massive construction site at 26th and Sandy. Formerly home to the Pepsi Bottling Plant, this 5 acre industrial property contained multiple warehouse-type buildings and brought a constant flow of semi trucks to the neighborhood’s tight streets. Thankfully, Pepsi relocated several years back and the property is now in the hands of a Seattle development firm that is transforming the site into a large mixed-used development. Phase 1 is underway and Phase 2 was just approved, and in total, the property will bring 5 buildings containing well over 1,000 apartments, plus retail space, parks, and lots of walking and biking paths. Fans of mid-century architecture are delighted that the old curved-roof building that fronts Sandy is being restored into a retail space that is rumored to become a food hall. It’s just blocks from the Proud Realty office and we can’t wait to eat there.
